CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Over the last decade, the Corporate Social Responsibility has evolved from a declaration of intentions and an inclusion in our HSEQ policy into a fully normalized and grown up part of our core-procedures and company culture.
We consider that future generations should be able to live in good health, receive quality education, be treated fairly and enjoy our fascinating planet as much as we do now. We are continuously developing cleaner and more sustainable logistics solutions in order to mitigate harmful emissions and irrational use of carbonized energy sources.
We are of course a small piece of this global movement but we truly believe that by contributing structurally, and doing this together, we can make a change.
CSR is all about finding the balance between profit, environmental impact and wellbeing of people.
SUSTAINABILITY RATINGS
Our customers need reliable information from their providers regarding Sustainability performance. We collaborate with leading company Ecovadis in order to rate our performance as a LSP (Logistics Services Provider).
This enables us to provide our customers with the world’s most-trusted sustainability and CSR ratings.
RESPONSIBLE CARE
As ECTA (European Chemical Transport Association) Responsible Care members, we implement their principles into our company strategy, management systems and daily operations. We commit to:
- Continuously improve the environmental, health and safety performance of our transport operations of goods as to avoid harm to people and the environment.
- Ensure that proper care is taken to protect the safety and health of all people involved in our transport operations.
- Minimize the environmental impact of our transport activities.
- Use resources and fuel efficiently and minimize waste.
- Collect data and report openly on our performance, achievements and shortcomings.
HUMAN PERSPECTIVE
Our employees are our most valuable asset. Therefore, we try to take care of their wellbeing and health while they are doing their job. RB is a flat organization structure enabling easy contact between all different layers inside the organization. This structure enables smooth communication between operators and their managers so issues can be discussed and solved fast. The knowledge of operators is very valuable and must always be taken in account.
Through Corporate Social Responsibility guidelines, we keep focusing on the human perspective. We want to make sure nobody is forgotten on the way, treated unfair or unequal inside our organization. Our main point of attention are:

Our Sustainability philosophy is founded upon the Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations. These goals represent a perfect guideline to follow and to improve, gradually, conditions of our people, the environment and humanity in a whole. We are of course a small piece of this global movement but we truly believe that by contributing structurally, and doing this together, we can make a change. Our purpose is to geographically connect customers by integrating sustainable modalities of transport and processes into their supply chains. We achieve it by using all our innovation and creativity power to transform how these materials are handled and moved around the globe. As the result of our approach, we developed an innovative solution that enables the deletion of several logistic activities, saving time, packaging, storage space, transport, man-hours, producing huge savings in cost and environmental impact.
The use of rail, being by far the cleanest modality of transport, has always been our primary objective. Over the last decade, we have saved over 50.000.000 Tons of GHG emissions (Source of Information: VIIA data 2019) by using railways with our pressurized container versus road transport. We are constantly monitoring possibilities and new developments of rail connections worldwide in order to offer our customers a sustainable supply chain.
Globalization has transformed the industrial landscape and the way business is driven and managed today. Today huge volume of powders are being moved across the globe in FIBC. We are minimizing the packaging required to transport powdered materials by using liner bags and removing wooden pallets.
We are very aware of our responsibility as a logistics service provider regarding harmful emissions and our carbon footprint. We have highly invested over the past decade in low emission trucks, improved trailers and in training of our drivers in Eco Friendly Driving. By training drivers to change their behavior using driver assistance and ITS systems (Intelligent Transportation Systems) in an optimal manner, fuel consumption reductions of 5-8% are possible. In RB we make sure to keep these reductions by incentivizing drivers and ensuring regular follow ups.
RB is a member of the Operation Clean Sweep initiative. We actively participate in think tanks to provide our expertise when needed. All RB partners are involved in this initiative.
