At RB we are convinced that the future lies in intermodal transport. Since our foundation, we decided to connect geographically suppliers and customers, maximizing low emission transport modalities aiming to reduce the environmental footprint.
We offer integrated door-to-door dry bulk transport solutions throughout an extensive multimodal network. More than 65% of the distances travelled by our dry bulk containers are executed by rail transport, being the most environmentally-friendly mode of transport available, whether in terms of harmful emissions (CO, NOx, SO2, etc.), energy consumption, use of space, or noise levels.
We are proud of highly contributing to the strategy of the European Commission expressed through its White Paper on Transport. The Commission’s vision for the future of the EU transport system defines the need of shifting the 50% of longer distance freight journeys from road to other modes by 2050, in order to achieve a 60% reduction in CO2 emissions, among other positive effects.

Thanks to efficiently executing our transport services we are adding value to our customers by creating time and place utilities, making products available at the designated time, thereby granting a competitive advantage. The efficiency of our transport also facilitates an accurate production scheduling to our customers since it helps to feedback market demand.
We are continuously working on improving the Supply Chain. We pursue the optimization of our services by analyzing different elements that have a direct impact on the transportation. By combining the legal transport regulations and the tangible attributes of the materials with the volume capacity of our transport units, we create meaningful indicators, such as the payload, since an increase of the weight ratio implies lower transportation costs.

Switch shortage to opportunity
Rising transportation costs, particularly those associated with trucking, are forcing the industry to find efficient alternatives to distribute their goods across the continents. One of the highest risk to existing distribution chain strategies is the shortage of long-haul truck drivers.
Our dry bulk containers features a significant solution to tackle this situation. Thanks to our Intermodal status, RB offers container-based storage near the most important hubs in order to dispose of buffers to match supply and demand in all possible circumstances: lack of long-haul truck capacity, strikes, production problems, and extreme weather or force major delays- The collateral effects produced under these situations are much less damaging with a safety stock near the final destination, with the result of higher reliability and lower lead times.

At RB, we constantly pursue the goals of cost efficiency and a customer service improvement, evaluating carefully our transit times and reliability. In order to achieve our high-efficient performance, we have implemented a tailor-made transport management system (TMS) to provide fast and reliable information about our workflows at all times, by means of customized reports and system-to-system communications.
